Mahiru no Himitsu

Title: Mahiru No Himitsu (Midafternoon Secret)
Words: Mikami Chisako
Music: Mikami Chisako

Made to stand in the rainy garden
My hair clinging to my skin
the green bug seemed so brilliant a color
I laughed in the rainy garden
with both hands bound
and touch that skin, almost transparent.

I spun round and round and round
til my head, my eyes, they flew right off of me.
but even still, I spun and spun.
and you laugh like a pearl...

I adored the garden just after noon
the wind mild,
choking on your faint scent so like a lily.
standing in the garden just after noon
those transparent eyes,
next time it'll be I who tie you up tightly

round and round and round,
what you and I drew,
breathing our last, our eyes gone red,
we simply let these times go to waste
waiting for the vines entwined around us to dry up.

look at how much you laughed,
and how much you looked at me,
I'd never felt this satisfied before.
we locked eternity in our hearts.

lalala

the garden in midafternoon
time that seemed so transparent
the moment it stopped, we were in the light
always, always
dreaming of us drying up.
spinning spinning in the fog....

Translated By: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma

Translator's Notes: The last line might translate as "Foggy" or something else... it's a little vague. There's a very child-like sense about this song. "Made to stand..." sounds like a punishment yet how the singer enjoys it.

Aojiroi Tsuki
This song was dedicated to the memory of Chisako's brother who drowned when she was a child.

Title: Aojiroi Tsuki (Pale Moon)
Words: Mikami Chisako
Music: Mikami Chisako

When I was just a child,
My kind older brother died
but the deep sadness of the mother who bore him,
was like the sea.

That day even the wind blew gently.
The shoes he'd just bought left in disarray.

The pale moon is laughing
My icy heart has melted.
The pale moon knows the sadness of those left behind.

My brother who used to read me picture books
would soon be a star
when I was young I would look at the brightest star
and call out his name.

That day too, the light, the green, the wind, were gentle to me.
It was like nothing changed.

The pale moon is laughing.
The heart I closed off melted.
The pale moon knows the sadness of those left behind.

The pale moon is laughing.
That face shined upon laughed too.
those bruises won't go away but...

The pale moon is laughing
The pale moon knows
That pale moon was waiting for the bud in this hand to open.

If I were to follow the lines of the moon's memory,
If I could return to that day,
I would put a spring necklace made of three leaf clovers around your neck.

Translated By: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma

Translator's Notes: "Oroshita bakkari" refers to something that was just bought, clothes, shoes, etc.
